TOUGH CONDITIONS FOR WEST MUSKERRY ATHLETES
Posted: 29/11/2015 -
West Muskerry A.C travelled to Cappa White, Co. Tipperary on Sunday the 29th of November last. The weather was the worst we have ever seen with high winds and rain making the underfoot conditions extremely hard to run in.
The West Muskerry athletes ploughed through the muck and battled the winds and were well rewarded for their efforts. Medals were awarded to the first 12 across the line, the first three club teams and the first three Counties.
In the Girls U 9 All four girls ran extremely well. While they were trying to make their way up the hill to the start line having to jump some fences on the way, they had just arrived when the whistle went. The girls ended up running after the race but they did this and caught up with the other athletes and were rewarded for their efforts by winning the silver medals in the team event. The team were Grace Kelleher, Lilly O`Shea, Eirn Kelleher and Kate Downey.
In the Girls U 11 Rachel Kelleher and Danielle O`Neill ran superbly. They battled their way through the mud and give it their all. Rachel sprinted home and was well deserving of the 4th place medal and she was followed home closely by her team mate Danielle who finished in 7th place and was well deserving of her individual medal. Both girls also won the gold medal with the cork team.
In the Girls U 13 Katelyn Kelleher and Sarah O`Neill ran superbly. Both girls battled for their positions down the hill. Katelyn was just piped for the bronze medal but was delighted and well deserving to receive her individual 4th place medal. Her teammate Sarah O`Neill also ran superbly and she was well deserving of her 7th place medal. In the team competition the West Muskerry Girls ran fantastic and were well deserving of the bronze medals. The team were Katelyn Kelleher, Sarah O`Neill, Grainne Twomey and Brigin Kelleher.
In the Boys U 17 Colm O`Mahony had another fantastic race. He is improving with every race he runs. He was delighted with his individual 6th place medal.
In the Boys U 11 Noah O`Leary was competing for the first time and is definitely an athlete to watch out for in the future. He ran a superb race.
In the Master Mens race. Jerry O`Mahony, Michael McSweeney and Keith Ryan had a fantastic run and were very happy with their performances.
