County Uneven Ages Cross Country 2015
COLM GELLISPIE IS COUNTY CHAMPION

What a day West Muskerry A C had on Sunday last the 11th of October when they hosted the
County Uneven age Cross Country Championships in the field of Mr Gus Murphy in Coolta,
Carrigadrohid. The sun shone all day and the athletes performed superbly.
Colm Gellispie was on top of the world at the finish of his race. He was competing in the boys u 11 1500m. He settled in with the lead group and on the final climb he made his move and sprinted clear and stormed home to victory and was crowned u11 County champion 2015. His team mates also had incredible races and it was fantastic to see the West Muskerry colours coming up the hill together with Breandan O Sullivan securing the bronze medal and James O Neill taking the individual 4 th place medal and then the icing on the cake came with the rest of their team mates Rowan Mullane, James Lucey and Kevin Maguire made up the team points and the boys were crowned County U 11 team Champions.
In the girls u 9 750m Katie O Neil was taking part in her first County Championships. Katie had a huge battle in the finishing straight and was well deserving of the individual 5 th place medal. She also lead her team mates to the bronze medals. This was a huge achievement for the girls in their first big race. The team were Katie O Neill, Lilly O Shea, Grace Kelleher, Kate Downey, Fern Mullane, Saoirse Twomey, Eirn Kelleher, and Sarah Lyons.
In the girls u 13 2500m Shannon Cotter again was in top form. She battled hard with the lead group through out the race and in the sprint for the finish Shannon was well deserving of the 3rd place medal. Her team mates also ran superbly and because of their determination throughout the race they were rewarded with the gold medals in the team competition. The team were Shannon Cotter, Katelyn Kelleher, Sarah O Neill, Grainne Twomey, Brigin Kelleher, Hannah Maguire and Ciara Bradley.
In the boys u 15 3500m the West Muskerry colours of blue and orange were could be seen in convey coming up the hill and into the finish. There was no stopping this team with Connor O Neill comfortable running home to claim the individual 5th place medal, James Downey followed him home to claim the 6Th place medal and he was followed home by Sean O Sullivan, who was followed home by Tadhg Manning and their combined total was more than enough for them to be awarded the gold team medals.
In the girls u 15 3500m Jennifer Cotter again ran a stormer of a race and is showing great promise. She sprinted home and was well deserving of the individual 4th place medal. In the girls u 19 open 4000m race Sharon O Sullivan was loving running on home ground and she was well deserving of her 2Nd place finish. Her sister Stephanie was just unlucky to finish in 4th place but a fantastic run by her nevercthe less.
All the athletes who competed ran fantastic races and are improving with every race. They were Danielle O Neill, Ruth Creed, Eimear O Sullivan, Kelly Scullane, Rachel Kelleher, Moira Leahy, Annie Maher,Sarah Kelleher, Sean Lucey, Odhran Creed, Eoin Hurley, Ferghal Gellispie, Jack Scullane, Killian O Mahony, Macdara O Conaola, James McCarthy, Dylan Defaoite, Paul Downey, Liam Coleman, Colm O Mahony, Seamus Gallagher and Billy Cronin.

Thanks to all who helped with the setting up and taking down of the course and to the volunteers and club members who helped out in any way to the successful running of the event.
WEST MUSKERRY SENIORS DO WELL
The West Muskerry Senior group competed in the Intermediate and Novice b County Cross Country Championship on Sunday last the 18 Th October and all ran extremely well. They will challange the Master competition on November 1 St next in Conna. They were Clodagh Galvin, Karena McCarthy, John Cronin, Sean O Lionaird, Michael McSweeney, Jerry O Mahony, Martyn Underhill, Keith Ryan. Well done to all.
