County Even Ages Cross Country 2015


Posted: 4/10/2015 - West Muskerry A. C are off to a fantastic start to the cross country season with all athletes showing great promise. The club travelled to Carrignavar on sunday last the 4 th of October to the County Even age Cross Country Championships. With most of the athletes running up an age and the competition in Cork very high it did not stop the West Muskerry athletes from performing superbly.

In the boys under 12 2000m james O Neill and Breandan O Sullivan had a fantastic battle through out the course. Both boys were running up an age and really took on the race. It was extremely fast with James storming home to take the individual 5th place medal and Breandan followed closely behind securing the individual 6 th place medal. Their team mates ran fantastic races also and it was a bonus and fantastic achievement to secure the bronze medals. The team were James O Neill, Breandan O Sullivan, James McCarthy, Paul Downey,Rowan Mullane, Dylan Defaoite and Conan Kelleher.

In the girls u 16 4000m Jennifer Cotter also had a superb race andxis showing great promise. Jennifer battled her way up through the race and was getting better with every lap. She was well deserving of her individual 5Th place medal. Her team mates again ran fantastic races and all helped secure the silver medals in the team events. The team were Jennifer Cotter, Caitlin Hurley, Sarah Kelleher and Niamh Mcsweeney.

In the girls u 14 3000m all 5 girls ran superbly and worked hard as a team. Their hard work paid off as they did enough to secure the bronze medals. The team were Shannon Cotter, Katelyn Kelleher, Sarah O Neill, Annie Maher and grainne Twomey.

All the other athletes ran extremely well and are showing great promise. They are Jamie Hourihan, Michael Downey, Cian Kelleher, Sean lucey, James Lucey, Eoin Moynihan, Tadhg Manning, Conor Lucey, Liam Coleman, Sean O Sullivan, James Downey, Ruth Creed, Colm O Mahony, Danielle O Neill, Aisling O, Leary, Ciara Bradley and Brigin Kelleher.


County bronze for Clodagh Galvin Clodagh Galvin ran a superb race in the Novice and u 23 County Championship on sunday last the 4Th of October. Clodagh fought hard throughout the race and in the finishing stages of the race she got a second wind and sprinted home to secure the individual bronze medal in the u23 race. Jerry O Mahony competed in the Novice mens race and again performed very well.
