West Muskerry A.C. ended their Cross Country Season on a high on Sunday last the 8th of
February when they brought home a huge medal haul. The club were competing in the All

the first three County teams. The athletes have been training hard since Christmas and the club
are very proud of the way they performed on Sunday.
The Girls U 13 competed in the 1500m race and all five girls ran out of their skin to be well deserving winners of the All Ireland B Club team title. Sarah O`Neill led the team home and won the individual 9th place medal followed by her teammate Annie Maher who won the individual 10th place medal. She was followed home by team mates Katelyn Kelleher, Grainne Twomey and Dearbhla Walsh and all five sealed the team Gold. Sarah, Annie and Katelyn also helped Cork secure the gold medals in the County competition.
In the Boys U 15 2500m All four boys ran fantastic races and were well deserving of the silver medals in the County Team Competition. Christopher Maher battled hard throughout the race and his sprint at the finish was well worth the effort as he clenched the last individual medal finishing in 12th place. He was followed home by his team mates James Downey, John Downey and Eoin McNabola which sealed the silver medals for the Cork team.
In the Boys U 13 1500m race Tadhg Manning and his team also ran superb races. Tadhg battled hard throughout the race and he helped Cork secure the silver medals. H teammates Tom Downey and Conor Lucey also helped Cork secure the silver medals. Conor O`Leary just missed out on the Cork team but ran a superb race.
It was a big day for the girls U 11 who competed in the 1000m race Most of the girls had never reached an All Ireland before but they did their club, themselves and their parents very proud when the completed the course. All 6 girls ran extremely well and their team were out of the medals on this occasion and the County team were also just out of the medals. The team were Aoife Lucey, Niamh McNabola, Aisling O`Leary, Danielle O`Neill, Brigin Kelleher and Roisin Walsh. This will be a team to look out for in the future.
